In an ongoing effort to
decrease our environmental impact, our North Carolina
office currently purchases monthly blocks of renewable
energy through NC GreenPower in order to offset carbon
dioxide emissions generated by electricity usage. The
annual reduction is equivalent to the planting of 192
trees, not driving 3000+ miles, or the elimination of
2497 pounds of carbon dioxide. These voluntary
contributions go directly to the purchasing of
inexhaustible renewable energy from independent
generators (not utilities) throughout the state,
supporting the local economy.
Within our employee roster, there exists one hybrid vehicle and one 50 mpg car that has been designed to accept full or blended biodiesel. Additionally, the NC staff has their vehicular footprint mitigated by subscription to TerraPass, a fund that promotes clean energy and carbon reduction projects across the United States. The particular product retires 6000 lbs of CO2 annually on our behalf, and includes a combination of renewable resources that are Green-e® certified (wind) and carbon credit offsets (biomass and industrial efficiency).
